Let's be clear about this lawsuit. Democrats should welcome it and Republicans should calm down about the circumstances behind it. Jack Smith acted honestly, but thinking he shouldn't have accessed Congressional phone logs (not content) is also honest.

Worthy but headcount isn't the problem. "Headcount creep" plagues all bureaucracies. A 20-30% reduction in headcount is likely positive. Complaints from retirees are usually suspect. You need strong leadership after a good RIF, and JFK Jr. is as incompetent as Trump.

"Direct democracy" has emotional appeal, but a rational thinker also understands its pitfalls. I suggest that all citizen initiatives be voted upon by state legislators, with a 2/3 vote required to kill the initiative. We're a representative republic for good reasons.
