Recorded an album almost 10 years ago now called Sacred Heart Blues. It set a bunch of my #songs in a #Bluegrass frame. Fantastic players on it. The astounding Charlotte & Laura Carravick, Martin Froud & Barry Cook. Josh Clarke ran the tape & played perc. First track:

Carney telling the story of CDN Lt Leslie Miller🍁, who gathered “a handful of acorns from the shattered European landscape” during WW1 & planted a forest, followed by “seeds, values, ideas, trade, people and progress carried back and forth across the Atlantic for centuries” broke me entirely...

Have to say a draw between Little Feat & Bela Fleck/Flecktones...

The Dead has to be a very tight second tho.
L4LM: What's the best band you ever saw live?

Maggie Rose: TOOL at Bonnaroo

"In a weird way, it actually reminded me a little bit of seeing Phish—not because the music sounds similar, but because there was that same feeling of being completely immersed in the world the band had created."
The Best Band I Ever Saw Live
Nashville singer-songwriter Maggie Rose remembers seeing TOOL at Bonnaroo in this installment of 'The Best Band I Ever Saw Live.'

"The wind is swirlin' all around the place
Angry people shoutin' in my face.
I shuffle my feet, I don't know where to look,
It's like they never read a history book..."

Today in 1978 - The great Muddy Waters played at a White House picnic at the request of President Carter. Muddy Waters' influence was tremendous not just on blues and rhythm and blues but on rock & roll, hard rock, folk music, jazz, and country music. He passed away in 1983 at the age of 70.

The man that hath no music in himself,
Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds,
Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils;
The motions of his spirit are dull as night,
And his affections dark as Erebus
Let no such man be trusted. Mark the music.

A lot of hot air being generated in #Bristol this weekend with the iconic Balloon Fiesta and the joyless "patriotic" windbags gathering in Queen's Square tomorrow...what a contrast.

Very sad to hear but especially poignant as we happened to play a festival last weekend which also had Barry "The Fish" Melton & Band who are currently tearing it up in the UK right now...
Rest in peace to Country Joe McDonald, the legendary singer-songwriter, activist and frontman of Country Joe and the Fish, who has died at 84.

Farage having a meltdown for not being invited to a meeting of MP’s shows just how arrogant he is.

He is NOT an MP. He has as much right to be at that meeting as I do.

Clayton, help yourselves and elect Binface, or make yourself a global embarrassment and elect this racist conman
