Ongoing drought, a warm dry winter plus a late hard freeze killed fruit, nuts, grasses and insects (we usually have a very large and annoying emergence of moths in May, which is a HUGE food source for bears - they can eat 40,000 a day in the summer) which left the bears without options for food. +

As they are entering hyperphagia before fall, they are going outside their normal range, breaking into old ladies houses, elementary schools and peoples cars. This is very alarming and everyone who I have talked to about it COMPLETELY brushes it off, like yeah it’s been a tough year for everyone.

Sorry, but we’re in the part of the climate change disaster where megafauna is involved at this level and you don’t think it’s a big deal?!? Not that there’s anything we can really DO at this point, but omg a little situational awareness seems pretty fucking appropriate at this time. Right? Right!?

I had a zombie apocalypse bad dream last night, woke up sweating. Lots of things playing into my mental recipe for this but the climate crisis manifesting so hard is surely the biggest

Had a post-apocalyptic dream where i was leading a large complex of survivors of the climate catastrophe, with subterranean grow bunkers and lots of dust filters. It was all kinda realistic, except for the super sci-fi excursion vehicles that were straight out of Akira.

I think I might have had my first climate change-related nigthtmare after seeing that. Or at least the first I can remember. In the dream it was inside a US shopping mall that collapsed, killing thousands.

Dream: Liz is driving us through city streets. We turn right, and I see ahead of us a gigantic pyrocumulonimbus cloud comprised of mostly brown smoke with flashes of lightning. It resembles a nuclear mushroom cloud. I think, because of climate change things like this are just happening now

It was very hot outside. There was nothing but desert and sand dunes as far as the eye could see. I knew in the dream that the entire planet had turned to desert. I woke up in panic. Years later when I first heard Neil Young's "After the Gold Rush," the song made so much sense.

When I was a kid growing up in very lush and green Iowa in the early 60s, long before climate change was a thing, I had a vivid dream I've never forgotten. (Back then I occasionally had prophetic dreams.) I looked out the bedroom window, usually with a view of the river. But the sun was blazing.
