Zines From Gaza
@coastallinespress.com
Coastal Lines Press is a collective of writers in Gaza. Through Zines from Gaza, we publish independent booklets of poetry, essays, and testimonies that travel like vessels from coast to coast, turning words into vital aid for our families.
"I saw Gaza. I saw children born beneath a closed sky, with the sea before them a fence, and the ground under their feet a border that cannot be crossed. We were born in a vast cage, and they called it "reality," and asked us to get used to it." written in a tent by Coastal Lines poet Shaza Abu Daya
"Birds Born in a Cage Think Flying Is a Crime"… and I Don't Mean Birds.

“Planted Genocide in My Mind is a collection of memories, glimpses and fragments shaped by living through two years of genocide in Gaza and its aftermath... Some pages may feel unfinished, because life here is unfinished. Some memories repeat, because trauma does." Huda Skaik

“I write because memory is a form of survival. I write to plant humanity in people’s heart. And I write because Gaza, despite everything, is still my home--rooted in me as deeply as I am rooted in it.” Huda Skaik, author of the zine Planted Genocide in My Mind www.coastallinespress.com/get-your-copy

On making zines with kids, Shaza Abu Dayah writes, "A young child rarely possesses the vocabulary to capture what they have survived, but their hands know how to draw. Drawing allows them to express things without facing them head-on, placing fear onto paper rather than carrying it in their bodies."
