Today is a big day for Vision Zero in Seattle. 🚸

Mayor Katie Wilson signed an Executive Order to accelerate safety improvements on our most dangerous streets.

Seattle Streets Alliance has pushed for this urgency for years.

The goal: everyone gets home safely. A meaningful step forward.

We all deserve to get to where we're going safely. After over a decade working towards Vision Zero in Seattle, it's clear we need to do more.

Thank you Mayor Wilson, in signing today's executive order, for committing to taking urgent action for all who bike, walk, and roll on Seattle's streets.

Everything in this thread is a data-driven, industry standard best practice to saving lives on our streets.

Let's move beyond simple, weaponized narratives of "Bellevue's not Seattle" and focus on the policies & projects that will help us achieve our shared value of community safety.

#VisionZero
Katie Wilson is in Beacon Hill this afternoon announcing a brand new executive order targeting changes dealing with traffic safety across city government. The five-section order is beefy, and I think it represents the biggest reaffirmation of Vision Zero in Seattle since the initial 2015 commitment.

The SAFE Bellevue proposal encourages city officials to prioritize ped & bicycle connections to light rail stations in its upcoming budget.

As micro mobility expands to Bellevue, so should the bike network for last or any mile connectivity
For a city with six light rail stations, Bellevue has terrible bike infrastructure, with some very limited exceptions. Crossing the many places with freeway on-ramps is especially perilous. Even where there are paths they are often badly marked and not enough curb cuts to access them.

So many of you have been telling me to do this for literal *years*, and I'm so excited that I'm finally taking the plunge with this. But I'm going to need your help to cover the program's fee.

No sugarcoating especially since many of you already know, but CSB runs lean. But we still get shit done.

112th Ave NE is next to our premier light rail station. It is 5-6 lanes wide at this segment & has no bike lanes.

Our wide streets are the problem. We need leadership in staff & Council to show urgency & fix our streets.

Hoping for a speedy recovery for the cyclist. www.king5.com/article/traf...
