@lmtpod.city Were Sunderland really good in attack or were City poor in defense? I think the answer is probably both. I think the set-up pushing Enzo and Cherki super wide left too much space in the middle, but Brobbey is something else with the hold-up play. Just a weird, fun game.

@lmtpod.city Very glad for the win. I thought the second half was terrible, though. It seemed like Coventry grew into the game, but I think that had more to do with City letting them do so instead of much they did. So many misplaced passes.

@lmtpod.city I choose to believe that this is a case of City being very good as compared to Palace being utter crap. That said, I thought that Haaland, Cherki, Foden, and Semenyo were are great.
There can't be many times that City have had three 18 year olds on the pitch at the same time either

@lmtpod.city I thought Haaland was really good today even without a goal. He did a lot more dropping deep than he's done in a couple years and it really helped move the team up the field. I'm excited to see how it looks when the whole team is there and firing.

@lmtpod.city The team looked so much better when Nunes came on for Rico. Rico's physical limitations make him such a liability. There was one point where he was pressing Alex Scott and it looked like a kid vs an adult. He is also constantly bullied off the ball. Just sadly not up to the level.

That said Donnarumma was shit, Khusanov looked lost at RB, and there was no defensive presence with Kovacic playing the holding role. It would be an overreaction to take much from the game IMO because Grealish got 45 min.

@craigcalcaterra.bsky.social I have to quibble with your explanation of offside. It's not the last defender minus the goalkeeper, it's just the last two defenders (one is just the keeper like 99.9% of the time) and the ball. If two defenders are behind the GK then the GK doesn't factor.
