Docker Compose is often stupid and overly complicated, but it’s cool that the entire process for moving my web servers over the weekend was copying two folders.

All the containers started back up on the new system like nothing had happened!

The “150 years of US legacy” was becoming a telecommunications monopoly so destructive that it was one of the few companies ever forcibly broken up by the federal government.

I've covered old HTML relics away from standards, so CSS seemed like the natural next up. Here are a variety of styling oddities and curiosities from years long passed.

You know the gist. It is mainly the fault of Internet Explorer.

CSS Curiosities of the Past
Summary of the various CSS syntaxes, parsing bugs, hacks, bespoke features, and implementations used across browsers and the web to achieve specific goals in the days before browser vendors became more adherent to a single solid specification. Particularly focusing on the non-compliant, bespoke implementations of functionality seen in Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

can only speak for animation but if work for a new season starts up within a 12-month period, they are required to offer the previous crew their old positions. after that period they can hire whoever they want

my last studio waited 12 months and 1 week to start hiring for their BG Paint department

You wouldn't even know Visual Studio Code was an IDE and text editor from looking at its current website: code.visualstudio.com

It's all "manage your small army of AI agents" until you get halfway down the home page, then it's like "oh yeah you can write your own code I guess." 🙄

i know times are tough, but when a job listing says:

"The more views your content generates, the more commensurate your payment becomes"

and it doesn't list your actual pay, close the tab

It would be cool if Apple tried making routers again. It can just be an A17 or A18 SoC in a plastic box with bigger antennas. The only real competition in the consumer space would be Eero.

If there are enough C1 modems leftover from iPhone production, maybe toss that in for 5G backup internet?
