I'm a dumbass and may be wrong, but I swear I've heard about a thing in Shintoism where if you break something you should apologize to it not because it's alive but because it just reinforces acknowledging your errors, having manners, and correcting your mistakes.

I believe it is good to be polite to robots not because they have consciousness (they do not) but because it is bad for the soul to let oneself become a vehicle for cruelty, even if directed at inanimate objects.

Kant had an ethical theory about animals where he thought it was an impermissible category mistake to treat them as ends in themselves as if they were persons, but every "disrespectful" treatment of animals is impermissible anyway because we're obliged to not habituate ourselves for disrespect

I’m grossing myself out. I had cryo on a whole bunch of skin things 10 days ago and the scabs are falling off…everywhere. I’m trying to be vigilant and trash them when I can but I’ve definitely missed a few. Sorry about that! #tmi
