Unsurprisingly, 60 Minutes ratings are down.

What people like Ellison don’t understand is that many of us wouldn’t watch CBS News, including 60 Minutes, if you paid us.

Like Bezos, they don’t understand that consuming content is as much a statement of values as anything.

After the worst heat of the year, fossil gas use is still 48% lower in 2026 than in 2023 and has supplied only 20% of all electricity in 2026 versus 39% in 2023.

189th >100% WWS day of 2026. 56.3% of all electricity during the year has been from WWS.

56.2% of all demand in 2026 has been met by WWS.

187th 100% WWS day of the year on Sat, Sep. 13.

WindWaterSolar continues to provide stable output in California, even through heat waves.

I don't know. I guess I'm just old. But what I'd like to see in a foldable iPhone is something that folds vertically like the old Startac or Razr. So, when it's in in my pocke, it's small, but when I take it out to use it, it's like my regular sized iPhone.

California may soon be able to eliminate entirely fossil gas peaker plants because a combination of batteries, hydro, and imports (which themselves are 58% WindWaterSolar and growing) provide the exact same service but at a much lower cost and faster ramp rate (and more cleanly and safely).
Phenomenal!

Fossil gas has supplied only 3-5.6% of CAISO electricity each of the last 6 days, all in summer, and only 13.6% of electricity in all of 2026, DOWN 62% versus 2023.

Meanwhile, solar is up 54.4%, wind is up 16%, and batteries are up 337% in '26 v '23.

Wow!

Gas has sunk so low and wind has jumped so high that wind has surpassed fossil gas as the 2nd-largest in-state source of electricity in California.

*Solar:163 GWh/day 2026
*Wind 75.4
Gas 73.9
Nuclear 54.2
*Large hydro 53
*Geothermal 17.1
*Small hydro 6.7
Biomass 5
Biogas 3.9

Total WWS* 315.3
Ho hum, only 89 of the last 90 days and 155 of 180 in 2026 with WindWaterSolar > 100% of demand on the CAISO grid, now averaging 5.3 h/d among all days.

58.6% of all demand met by WWS in '26.

Gas down 61.3% in '26 v '23 and has supplied less than 4% of all demand for the last three days.

More crazy records in CA

June 20 was a day not only with the highest WindWaterSolar as % of demand ever (164.6%), thus a day with the min net load ever (-9.2 GW), but also a day with the most hours WWS>100% of demand (10.33 h) in 2026

Plus, fossil gas supplied only 3.1% of demand.

It is just a matter of time before we eliminate fossil fuels and nuclear and biomass from electricity systems.

People denied more than 20% renewables on a grid was possible 15 years ago. They complained the sun doesn't shine at night.

Batteries, hydro, geo, and wind proved it doesn't matter.
Another day, another record: 23.148 GW peak of solar on CAISO Mon Jun 15

If there is ever evidence on a large grid (eg, 4th-largest world economy) that deploy, deploy, deploy a mix of clean, renewable energy+storage techs (wind, solar, geothermal, hydro, batteries) as fast as possible is the answer to eliminating fossil fuels while providing grid stability, this is it.
Fossil gas sputters to a record low, meeting only 2.9% of demand (16.1 GWh) as record new nighttime wind on the CAISO grid complementing daytime solar & batteries kicks it to the curb
