During the early 30s there was a sadly all too brief tradition that Notts and Forest would play each other on the Saturday of Goose Fair. Unfortunately it never ended well for Notts, but it did lead to some great animation work in the Football Post. From 3 October 1931.

The funny thing about this is that we have another member of Harrogate's relegation team on our books who absolutely no one will object to playing for us in the season ahead
Unlike the experts on Facebook who have never seen him play and can’t comprehend that a team relegated from League 2 could possibly have a player good enough for League 1, I really like the look of this signing.

I'm sure Notts Facebook will be demanding to know why we didn't pay the £700k fee for Langstaff, instead of reflecting on how our owners put together a team that finished one whole point a club with a significantly larger budget before trouncing them at Wembley.

As great as Wembley was last time, it wasn't what it could have been with the train strikes and the traffic jam on the M1. I only got there about 90 minutes before kick off. Looking forward to making a day of it this time.
