Librarians! Zine-Makers! This new Temporary Services zine (made with @doormouse12.bsky.social) is for you! We interviewed 4 public librarians that maintain zine collections and the result is a beautiful 44 page booklet. See and learn how they do it! $10.00 (or $3.00 PDF) from www.halfletterpress.com

Now reading. I have been on a crime fiction kick so when I saw this new detective novel set in Austin, I jumped on it. The "detective" is a detective in the way The Dude is a detective. That's perfect for Austin, but my one complaint so far is that everything is toooooo Austin.

My friends over at Austin Public Library run a monthly "strip club" where they teach you to hand edit film strips to make art. www.kut.org/life-arts/20...
At this Austin 'strip' club, you can draw, paint and scratch on old film to make new art
Film Strip Club — a once-a-month, free club at the Howson library — gives members a space to try direct animation with no barrier to entry.

I dreamed that I saw Missy live and she was wearing the trash bag outfit but also had car dealership dancing wind men on her arms. If you are a performer, you have my permission to use that idea.

My cat hasn't been her playful self for months as she adapted to a new medication. Now she's remembered how to play but only does it between 5-6 a.m., naturally.

I picked up the Elisabeth Sanxay Holding novel "Too Many Bottles" because of the name, and I found this intriguing dedication.

There's a walk up coffee window where they alsokeep dog treats. Large dogs will pull their owners across the street to get to the window. Then they have to wait patiently in line with all of the other customers until it's their turn. It's adorable watching a 60 lb goof try to behave itself.

I recycle or donate magazines when I am done with them, because I don't want to be a hoarder. Unfortunately, I sometimes later tell people about @ossuary.bsky.social 's 9/11 story and I can't even prove it exists because it was print only.

If you walk or ride a bike along the same bike path every day, you notice the changes to the bollards, pucks, and sidewalk. It's not uncommon for a different bollard or puck to be moved every day, meaning that at least once a day, someone is driving into the bike lane and hitting something.
The distracted driving discourse is already popping off but I’d just like to throw in: I’ve been an insurance adjuster for almost 13 years. When I started, we almost never saw high speed rear end impacts. Now they’re like the most common type of claim. It’s distractions, this is obvious.

Bookbinding is cool because you could make a book with 50 cents worth of ModPodge and whatever scraps you find in the recycling bin. Instead, you will absolutely spend hundreds of dollars on it.
