I am working to maximize agency in the digital world. I believe human ingenuity and productivity is diminished by the tools available today. eyg.run
EYG is a great choice of language for agents. Types and effects give strong feedback. Here I've implemented tools that the agent can use to create HTML artifacts and lay them out using a tiling window manager.

EYG now has syntax highlight, and I think it looks kinda nice.

This is a much of a surprise to me as anyone else.
I've never given much though to the syntax beyond adding the minimum I need at any moment.

It's less nerve wracking this time because I know what the steps are. It's more nerve wracking because the first was such a success.

@dsyme.bsky.social we chatted at the AI event in London a few weeks back. I was the guy looking to organize the next Gleam conference in London, didn't go with Kings in the end but it's nearby.

Didn't manage to find an email for you. you can find mine on GH if you'd like to.

Please go up there and present whatever small project you've been working on.
And if you feel terrified at the prospect of speaking in front of a small crowd, reach out to me and let's work something out.
The call for talks for the next Gleam Gathering is open now.
Let us know what Gleam related things you've been getting up to.

I've finally found the time to push a claim that I've made for a while the EYG is fun for embedding in other applications. In this case the hashi from Jak.

Need a few API improvements then it will be a case of defining your effects and it just works.

Another take at building an agent. This incarnation is interesting because it uses EYG as the only scripting environment which is safe to run in the browser so no sandboxing setup needed. vimeo.com/1217620400

I don’t think code will go away completely, but even if it does, we should still make programming languages better with Formal Methods!

A universal approach to testing effects in Gleam programs built on continuations.

This post is what is says on the tin. I like the approach because of it's symmetry over all effects.

It's a long time since this worked on the old blue bird website. But for posterity I'll give it a go.

I've been thinking a lot about side effects. Gleam doesn't have any extensible data types so I had been working with an unsatisfactory solution. Now I've read up on continuations properly I think I have a satisfactory solution.

Let me know how good my explanation is.
