Underneath that temporary mess of electrical tape, there's enough good lead-free solder so no adjustment was necessary. Side-tracked by work, finally got a locomotive moving again for the first time in a week after picking up a few feet of wire for the controller to the board until DCC. Wire is $$$!

It really is getting ridiculous to the point it seems more likely a game. I know the logic works out that it doesn't matter one way or another since you wouldn't do anything differently, but I'd still like to know.😆

Look at those free cars. I could have taken more too but I hate feeling greedy.

If you haven't seen modern model trains, one option is sound from the real train, the engine as well as the horn, adjusting for speed and everything. I haven't called anything "fairly amazing" so I'll use that to describe it.

OK, now that's a nice thing he's doing that should inspire us to do similar.
When my dad passed last year, I learned there's a model railroad club at my parents independent living building. I had been learning to make model trees, so I offered to make a few for their layout in memoriam.
They're done and delivery will be on Friday.

Getting back to some regular O gauge programming. Just a little temporary layout till after Saturday. Our club is having a train show Saturday (in grand rapids mi if anyone's local) so things around here are a mess atm. Gonna have a few marklin layouts running there and selling stuff too!

That's interesting. If you've ever travelled internationally and didn't make calls home because of the roaming costs (which can be ridiculously expensive some places) you can get an eSIM called Saily that will make mobile calls and internet browsing seem to originate in whatever country you pick.
