1. Facetaker didn’t consider the option at first, having to confront its counterparts would mean sullying its disguise. It had already spent some efforts, compacting its body into a convincingly human form – Frederic’s, specifically. It planned to take Frederic’s face and then lock him away. But the impulse to be rid of the evidence became palpable. It allowed its body to deform, to stretch its maw wider than should have been possible and began to envelope its creator. Its head pressed flat to his form, the muscular tube of its oesophagus bulged, the simulated flesh and bone of its rib-cage creaked and stretched to accommodate Fred’s struggling form, drawn in from colourful tendrils hidden in the pit of its belly. Pumping its overwrought jaws and throat, it choked back the last of Frederic’s limbs. Facetaker’s bones and muscles shifted back into place as best they could, but the unsightly protrusions rounding out its abdomen were glaringly conspicuous. The apron and once comfortable clothes wrapped around it could not contain its writhing girth, bare skin exposed to the air. The additional weight kept it down on its knees, contemplating its next move as its hands idled over its belly. It had managed to compress its monstrous form into this figure that was about a third of the size, so perhaps it would manage to do something similar for its human-sized other. Pulling taught the sinew of its middle like a corset, willing the concealed tendrils to squeeze ever tighter, Facetaker strained to suck in its prey. The mass within resisted at first, but gradually, as it was forced in on itself, the shape of Frederic’s body became less severe, less distinct. It disappeared back under the material of its doppelganger’s clothes and receded into its flesh. Pressing its fingers into the soft pudge of its middle, there was still a solid, heavy bloat, but nothing that would look unnatural on a human body. Facetaker made up its mind. It was going to reabsorb all of them. 2. Although, the next one it encountered was not a priority, this one was no less in the way. Dark Frederic was scampering around the storage space outside, after all. The overpowering shame and dread that addled its mind made it difficult for it to foresee its fate. Dark Frederic’s amorphous form was slippery and hard to grasp, but once it was inside Facetaker’s mouth, it was much simpler to swallow down than its first victim had been. Its belly filled at a much more leisurely pace, taking deep, languid gulps to drink its counterpart’s gelatinous body. The haze of drowsiness wasn’t potent enough to push Facetaker into unconsciousness, but felt much more soothing. While each facet of Frederic was largely paint, the taste was strangely reminiscent of something between aniseed and cough medicine. Whether this was due to the venom or a manifestation of the collective mind, an associated memory – or both of these things – was hard to say, but it didn’t matter. Facetaker belched. Its abdomen sloshed. The way it spread could be passably human, but it was still abnormal in the way it moved. Besides that, getting as much room as possible was an absolute necessity. It pulled the drawstrings tight on its stomach again, squishing and squeezing its second captive in tight. The impostor’s stomach had become denser, heavier, filling more of its abdomen, but this was still within the realms of sense. The strain made it slightly warmer to the touch than usual. Facetaker would have time to digest when the job was done. 3. Sinewy whips of teeth and tongues struggled to contain themselves to the small corner this next alter ego had confined itself to. The red, meaty portrait’s beady eyes locked with Facetaker’s, even as it tried to pull in. The more humanoid impostor lumbered steadily towards it. “I-I wouldn’t, if I were you.” he warned. Frederic could sense its hostile intent. It made his convulsing, fleshy figure writhe and lash in anticipation. He was pure fight response, despite the uneasy expression he bore, on a face split into a gaping mouth with jagged teeth. But there was a hollowness to the other portrait’s face that made him shudder, an unflinching iciness. It lunged. Arms burst apart, multiplied, grappled with the furiously lashing mouths that slashed at them. The impostor’s jaw and throat opened as wide as it could manage without completely tearing itself to shreds. Dangerously sharp points pushed out from under Facetaker’s distorted flesh, threatening to poke holes through it where they were ingested. The taste and scent of iron bloomed into its senses, the memory of a fight long passed. It was like eating glass – glass that also wanted to hurt you and kept stabbing you over and over on its way down. Nevertheless. The impostor was single-minded in its determination. The popping and squelching of bones and meat accompanied as Facetaker pressed down on its belly, swallowing the last fleshy tendrils of Fred Who Bites. It staggered to its feet, thrown off by how much weight it was carrying now. It felt packed full, nowhere near as soft as it had been to start with. Its shirt was clinging to its middle now. Its irritated gut was flushed pink with strain. One third down. 4. An irate voice rang out in its mind as the impostor shovelled lime-green globs of matter down its gullet, one after another. The texture of the paintlings was unpleasant, to say the least. Like thick strands of cold, tough spaghetti, coated in mucus – not to mention the bunches of slimy eyeballs. The taste was acrid, like bile. Not to mention, how gassy the toxins were making it. The belly it was already fighting to keep under control ballooned, and Facetaker belted out belch after guttural belch following each new addition. “Don’t you have anything better to do, asshole?! I thought you were pretending to be that piece of shit who painted us!” Facetaker wasn’t going to bother humouring its griping, much to this Frederic’s chagrin. “Well, fuck you, too!” Frederic sulked. “Whatever, I can work with this – so long as I still have my decoy.” What a convenient trail. “OH, FUCK OFF!” Came the mental cry of exasperation, after the cowboy hat was also crammed into the impostor’s throat. Toxic Fred was now cornered, with no remaining pieces of itself, besides itself. Facetaker took its time to approach, trying to settle its churning belly, uncomfortably hot with gas. “What do you want from me?! You want this stupid key that badly?!” Toxic Fred audibly called out. No. “Then-?” You. The bulbous head only scowled for a moment. Then barked a short laugh. Then grimaced in horror, as it drank in the blunt of Facetaker’s intent. “Seriously? That’s your plan? You’re gonna cram that fatass in your cake-hole, too? Bullshit!” Toxic snarled. “You really have to be some kind of freak to think- NO NO NO SHIT-!” The impostor closed the distance. Not getting enough time, FT slurped down the writhing, fuming mass of gooey, worm-like strands that made the bulk of this Fred’s body. The corrosive chemicals made its belly gurgle with bubbling gas. FT gagged, its cheeks bulged as its prey attempted to force its way back up. Green paint dribbled from its nose as it forcefully swallowed again.

audio design makes me think more about the context of the abdominal noises we use as SFX because, for the most part it seems like all sounds are lumped together in the general category of stomach/belly noises without much thought about which part of the abdomen they come from and in what context
