I do watercolor and gouache #SciArt, and occasional commissions. Here's a few of my favorites! An illustration of a tibia fusus shell, a Greater Yellowlegs bird on toned paper, photorealistic renderings of Silvery Blue butterflies, and a pigment-test sketch that turned into a lovely stormy sky.

These very small butterflies are painted nearly life size. The one at top left is a faster sketch on paper that already had some watercolor washes in orange, yellow, and green. The lower butterfly was painted in more detail. Both show the same view, top-down with the insect's wings open. They are a beautiful soft blue color, with black and white edges to the wings. Both insects are painted with a cast shadow, as if they were perched on the page about to fly away. A watercolor sky filled with menacing clouds. There is a clear slot between the upper and lower layers of clouds, with a jetliner sailing serenely between them. Colors are maroon, deep blue, and the many grays that form when these two pigments are mixed. PR179 and PB27 for the watercolor geeks that may be viewing.

Sasha (joined us at age 3) and Swayze (4 months). Each of these is the day after we picked them up. With Sasha, we got home super late, for Swayze, this pic shows just how small she really was.

This, but LOOK AT THE POSTMARK, make sure the date is clear and legible before letting them toss it in the bin. I didn't get to vote in 2024 over this. Went to the office & looked, the black ink date was on a black part of the postage stamp. Can't see the number? They call it late, throw it out.

One of my college jobs was Marine Life Support Services Technician, better known as that gal who stops by rich people's houses, and cleans the fish tank. Pay was awful, but I took care of some very cool creatures, including gorgeous lionfish. Learned a lot and enjoyed the animals, so overall a win.

Happy labor day (USA). What's one of the oddest paid job you've had? Mine was probably as a reader for a medical professor at Rutgers, whose eyes were failing. I read him many academic texts, as well as Samuel Butler's "The Way of All Flesh."

It’s #NationalWildlifeDay so here are some of my favorite animals to observe and photograph, starting with the Wood Frog who comes along in February and March with their quack-like call. That lets me know that spring is coming which I greatly appreciate!

2) The light isn’t too bad in this. Sometimes ai does a lousy job with light and shadow. The kid’s shadow makes decent sense. But the birds should have shadows too!

You could also make an image like this in Photoshop. But in this case I know it’s ai because it was identified that way
