I saw @daanis.ca share this 2024 piece recently; it’s very good. “we need to understand that “Indigenous”—always capitalized—is an intrinsically political term, created in response to colonization.” www.lifeisasacredtext.com/indigenous/

I loved the way that Clare connects empire, racism, and abolition to our relationship with the environment. It made me rethink the way I talk about native and non native plants.

Join us! Going to be a great discussion.

Watching Clarice and this decision to turn Clarice and Catherine into broken toys is annoying. But not nearly as annoying as Krendler's glow up into Clarice's Good Father Figure.

Insisting you can separate the art from the artist is a move to innocence. It tells me you want to read the book without reckoning with how their racist transphobic beliefs are woven into the story

I have a new piece out

Reflecting on 20 years of migrant struggles, it goes into what abolish ICE does - and doesn't - mean; merging of immigration enforcement with policing & military power; and how fascism is made through bordering.

Despite resisting it for so long, I also now define the border.

I'm reading David S Mura's A Stranger's Journey and in his section about racialized students in predominantly white MFA programs he talks about Standard Western English being the common language of writing, as opposed to Standard Black English. It's an interesting discussion.

I heard somebody say that we are separated from the land through layers of concrete and whatnot. We really aren't. Our computers, the machinery of the internet, the roads we drive on, the plaster and brick of our homes, all of it comes from the land.
