Trump’s “Super Intelligence Force” puts AI, intelligence, trade and defence officials under his control while giving tech companies direct access to policy decisions they could profit from, creating fertile ground for corporate profiteering, regulatory capture and corruption.

There is absolutely no reason, at present, to believe that the incident near RAF Fairford was anything to do with Iranian terrorism but... Just imagine if it was. This would be seen as a massive victory in Tehran!

The Fascists Are Making You Sound Crazy(Denny Carter writing for Bad Faith Times, 16 Jan 2026) I don't have any really good answers as to how to convince people that you are not crazy when you talk about the insidious rise of contemporary fascism.

Calling it "super intelligence" will scare people even more than "artificial intelligence."

This issue is framed. The name change, intended to make AI sound more dominant and inevitable, will likely harden resistance.

My take:

Have the Greens goofed? Yes!

Is the media coverage of the Greens goofing written in good faith? Hell no!

Every conference season Labour, Tory and Reform all get fairly uncritical News coverage of their headline policy. The Lib Dems barely get mentioned and the Greens get monstered!

Normalization is treating the president stealing from taxpayers to buy campaign ads and offer bribes to voters like it's just another day.

Normalization is reacting with "won't work" or "polls poorly," and not "resign immediately or you'll be removed, we exist because of a revolution against that."

Impossible to understand how anyone could look at Rufo's career and conclude he was someone engaged in a "forthright defense of meritocracy." Rufo's entire career is built on the idea of purging people who don't think or look like him from positions of power.

AI is now the biggest investment in all of US history as a percentage of GDP.

Datacenter construction is up, all other construction is down.

"AI Is Squeezing Out the Rest of the Stock Market," reported WSJ 2 days ago.

We basically bet the whole economy on the most optimistic visions panning out.
Part of why I don't like the AI-or-bust economy is the constant flopsweat of people on the news who say this HAS to work. Quit making everyone so anxious. Goddamn. If this is the next Google then why are you acting like this? I don't remember being told to buy an iPhone at gunpoint.

Trump is feeling impotent. Starting an unnecessary war with an enemy that doesn't surrender when you tell them to will do that. He should have asked his friend Putin how that feels before he started.
