Keen for all things nature, access and the outdoors, especially those involving rocks, ice and snow. 🧗 ⛰️ 🌳 👟 🦦 🥾

Land Reform Act (Scotland) Act 2003 fanboy.

I’m a Northern Irish outdoorsy type, enjoying life living in Scotland with my young family.

I’m a big fan of nature, mountains, beaches, paths and Scotland’s right to roam.

I’ll try to post here about adventures on hills, rock, ice and water. 🧗 🏊 🌳 🦦 🏃

As the fridge magnets say:

“Folkestone: it’s basically France.”

Few towns have surpassed my expectations quite as much. A fantastic place to visit.

Brilliant walking, running and swimming for those who suffer from such predilections.

There is a viral video going around on X and Facebook which has been seized on by the far-right.

It claims to show a young British Asian destroying a dry stone wall.

But as so often with such ragebait, the video isn't what it seems.

Here is my, probably forlorn, attempt to correct the record.

We are doing our bit @ramblersscotland.bsky.social to make sure people know about new bylaw. But as the park chief executive said in parliament last month “intentional” burning (eg muirburn) is a bigger cause of wildfires than campfires so needs to be bigger picture. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
New by-law bans camp fires and barbecues in Cairngorms
People who are found lighting fires in the UK's largest national park could be fined £500.

This isn’t accidental. It's due to years of political & financial neglect.

So, guess how many times it mentions walking, paths or outdoor access?

Yip... 0.🤦🏼

Crucially, it fails to replace the Improving Public Access scheme, which invested £2million a year in paths, bridges & signs before its suspension in '22.
