The biggest coal mine expansion ever proposed in NSW has been approved by the Minns government.

It threatens to wipe out Australia's emissions reductions.

This is a major test for Anthony Albanese and Murray Watt; they cannot provide federal approval to a project of this scale.

Dolly Parton’s passing evokes memories of road trips with my Grandmother in her Kombi with the yellow smiley-face spare wheel cover. Listening to Dolly and Kenny on the tape deck. Such wonderful times of joy and warmth and light-hearted living that I never felt with my own parents. RIP legend ❤️

This went down in my hometown. In the end police dropped charges. It made no difference to the export of coal but the arrests and controversy drew attention, and that was the entire point of the protest. Well played Rising Tide 👏

That's what taxes are, man. That's the definition of taxes. "You are subsidizing things you might never use" man shut the fuck up. My taxes currently subsidize like oil company exec private jets, you think I'm upset at low-income people eating inexpensive bananas?

Pornainen, Finland (pop 5,000) is now heated by a silo of crushed soapstone.

I spoke to CNBC about it. 100 MWh, charged when power is cheap, emissions down ~70%. Days to weeks of storage, no critical minerals.

This is one of those JWST photos that's kinda hard to wrap your head around.

The central bright thing is a galaxy cluster so unbelievably massive it's warping spacetime itself.

And the weird streaks around it is light from much more distant galaxies being distorted, a bit like a fisheye lens.
