Hugely sad. We've lost John Blanche. It's hard to know where to begin. He set fire to a generation's imagination, and those fires show no sign of stopping burning. His work very much illuminated the darkness.

As frustrated as I’ve been following the PWHL expansion process, this is absolutely brilliant. I’m excited for this Detroit team.

To that end, I don’t think Chicago gets a team unless they secure the United Center. Or too many negotiations stall out & the league needs a failsafe.

The more I see written, the more I think the league really is going to galaxy-brain this decision.
Chicago is the location that hits all their stated needs, but one poorly-scheduled game over Christmas and all logic is out the window.

I really need the PWHL expansion news to break, because I’m getting real tired of the galaxy-brained takes that Chicago somehow should not be in the top 3 or 4 sites for a new team.
