On the day my lad leaves home to start university, the courses I studied three decades ago are closing down.
EXC: 90 programmes in Edinburgh University's College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences are to be closed.

The casualties, which include 48 language and literature programmes, will be 'taught out', w/ no admissions after 2027.

"Thank you for interest in the British Museum. Our opening hours are 9:00am to 6:00pm daily.
"For group visit inquiries please impress a single vertical stripe in your clay tablet.
"To become a donor or to join Ea-Nasir's High Quality Copper Club please impress two."
This Finnish guy has been teaching himself Sumerian, and sent a cuneiform tablet to the British Museum to check his progress.

They just emailed him that they've sent him something in the post.

I'm now thrilled and excited for a total stranger! Clay tablet mail!

Great to be back in the UK for a bit. Centrist government with a comfortable majority, no looming elections, respected public broadcaster and diverse private media, economic growth. I imagine public discourse is very civili .... WTAF!?!

The hills I will gripe on:
People on calls in public should wear their headphones.
People whose attention I am trying to attract should take them out.
If you're not sure which category you fall into, wear only one of your earphones.
