It's probably an unpopular opinion, but I think all the fiddling with the clock in the final seconds makes the ending of football and basketball games annoying. But overturning a result a week after the game ends will be a huge pain for the sports bookies, so we should do it more often.

It's not a good sign when "The Economist" is suddenly unsure what happens to energy prices when demand increases.
In my mind an ideology is mostly just an outlook on how a community or the world could be a better place. In that sense, charities aren't "captured by ideology." Giving to charity is just one way to budget your wealth according to your values. But that assumes you want the world to be better.

I get a bunch of spam by phone and email wanting to buy or fund my business, much of it pretending to be "following up" on some discussion that never happened. It's annoying, and if we had a functioning government the FTC would work a little harder to stop it.

I do think “every rich person went insane during covid because it was the first time they’ve been inconvenienced in decades” felt a little reductive at first but damn if isn’t more and more compelling as the years drag on

There's a little library in our neighborhood and someone just crammed it full of books with no regard to whether you could see the titles, a complete mess.. I was annoyed at whoever could defile a library that way, but the contributions included Jose Saramago and Chuck Palahniuk so I take it back!

The last 4 years have been such an anomaly that it's hard not to think we've already passed some sort of tipping point with climate change. Even among Democrats, there is so little discussion on this issue. But I have to wonder how long Republicans can continue calling this a hoax.

It seems like philosophy departments have become a dumping ground for right wing shitbags like Nathan Cofnas who have no special intellect, experience or knowledge, but still want to have credibility. He's not a biologist. He's a racist. So he claims 'Philosopher of Biology' as his expertise.
In the wake of Arday's death, Nathan Cofnas (who led the X mob against him) states his motivation. Beyond whistleblowing, he states that after a 'revolution' removes professors like Arday, it will open opportunities for him to become 'head of the department of eugenics and race science at Harvard'.
