Fifteen years ago, on the tenth anniversary of the towers' fall, I published this essay about New York and Los Angeles, and my relationship with both of them. Feels apropos to reshare it today.

The most disturbing thing about the proposed $5000 bribe for votes is not that it's illegal nor that it comes from the Huey Long playbook; I can't imagine DJT has any idea who the Kingfish was. It's that he acts as if 5k is a vast sum of money when in his economy it's worth less and less every day.

"Women accounted for 100 percent of the decline in the labor force in July, according to a National Women’s Law Center analysis of the Bureau of Labor Statistics’s latest dismal jobs report.

Overall, the economy lost 23,000 jobs in July: Women lost 32,000 jobs, while men gained 9,000."

According to the article, all she's been doing is TAPING articles onto the walls. TAPING. Not spraypainting, not carving, not damaging. Just TAPING.

And they're calling that vandalism.

This too is fascism.
Park rangers fined Sandra Shachar for vandalism this morning at the President’s House, hours after the Trump admin installed its version of history.

The 72 year old has been posting news articles on the site’s walls since the slavery exhibit was removed.

If she does it again, she’ll be arrested.
