I mostly post about music or bother my friends. Play music in Grand Banks & Dais Queue & Radon Abatement.

There is now a recording of our set on Friday up. It is called "Twenty Five Year Bells." We first conceptualized and recorded "Bells" in 2001 (though we have played it a few times over the years in between). Felt good to play it again: grand-banks.bandcamp.com/album/twenty...

Was very gratifying to navigate “Bells” again (not a cover of all the other songs named “Bells,” our own. Every band of weirdos should have a piece called “Bells”). I think the original rendition was fully realized as well, as we needed to it that way to realize ourselves at that time.
It is entirely possible that last night's show, in which Grand Banks played a 25 year old song the way we would have then if we had had the gear, was an inchoate whirlpool of feedback, pealing bells, and scrambled tapes. If so then it may have been the most fully realized rendition of "Bells" ever.

Good show in Richmond, VA tonight: Helene Barbier, Added Dimensions, Kitchenette, & Graphic Violets. A fun set of different approaches to "good rock music," whatever that means to you. I will be there having a (I imagine) good time. My second time hanging at Studio Two Three. Looking forward to it.

Coming up in a couple of days. Tyler and I both have show flyers in the art show portion of the event (which will stay up until some time in November) and of course we are gonna play. Music should start a little after 8pm. Should be a very cool evening.
A week away. I think @averysafecat.bsky.social and I are gonna have whole new levels of murk for this one. Will it be the murkiest Grand Banks set ever? Hard to say, but there will be primo murk regardless.
Really cool art show with a little music coming up on Friday, Oct. 2 at Infinite Repeats in Charlottesville. The show will feature graphic works (fliers, handbills, calendars ...) for shows at Tokyo Rose over the course of its existence, as well as photos and ephemera! This is going to be very cool!

Next Radon Abatement show is coming up on Saturday, Oct. 17. We are playing with old friends & good musicians/band Ostinato, who apparently have a whole set of new songs! Who knows, maybe we will have a new song as well. Time will tell! Hope to see some of you there, should be a good time.

Erin O has done another Black Circle Revolution radio show, and while I am admittedly very biased here, I feel safe saying that it rules. Definitely help if one likes weird punk/rock music of varied and excellent types. Many new records, many cool bands, a true delight: www.wtju.net/recent-shows...

Portland folks, tonight is the night to catch Added Dimensions in your city! Playing with the singular and very cool Collate as well as Byproxy (probably good as well!). I wish I could teleport out for this one, I am sure it will be a good time.
Hey, Erin O is hitting the west coast as part of the Added Dimensions touring crew. They are sounding sick live these days, I highly recommend going and checking them out! Playing w/ quite a few sick bands as well, including Collate, Neutrals, The Intima, Liquid Cross, etc. Catch 'em if you can!

Next batch of these Added Dimensions shows (which Erin O is playing) are kicking off TONIGHT in Eugene, Oregon. Sick line-up of AD + Collate + Liquid Cross. All very good bands, and having seen Collate live once I wish I was getting to see them again. Should be a great night if one is around.

I am not sure what my life would be like if I had not discovered the joy of playing music through a decent amp at volume. Even cooler having a really great amp to play through at volume. It just never really gets old. ("at volume" is whatever I need it to be in the moment)

Music is a gift that keeps finding ways to give, thankfully. Generally the things I get out of it are myriad & endlessly strange & beautiful. Rarely will I get to say something like "Mr. Horribly Charred Infant from the Happy Flowers has purchased a tape," but today is such a day. Hot damn.

Hey this Added Dimensions tour is starting ... today! The band has made it to the west coast so tonight's show should be good to go. Playing with Neutrals, who are great, and a couple of other that are probably good too. If you are in or around San Francisco head on out.

On a jag of thinking of songs that bring me joy every time I hear them & in fact are things I put on pretty regularly simply to feel good. 100s of bands try to hit this sweet spot but most don't/can't. Not for everyone but man I love this band. Pure noise pop delight: www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlOO...

Just realized that the Radon Abatement album has been "out" for four months. Really we didn't have the tapes ready until July and that was supposed to be when we released it but hey there are no rules when you do it all yourself. Still very proud of it: radonabatement.bandcamp.com/album/radon-...

An even better run down of the kind of advice that I do think is actually helpful to someone who wants to play music and not "learn songs." Nothing wrong with learning songs of course, but there are ways of making music that don't require any of that kind of logic/thinking.
deepest condolences to all family, friends and musical co-conspirators of Half Japanese’s David Fair

Sad to hear this news but quite a cool legacy to leave behind. Honestly this advice on playing guitar, and not sweating it too much beyond that, is about as good advice as any and is always a joy to listen to when it pops up. Most other advice will lead you astray hah hah.

So stoked to reiterate Big Band with @abstracttruth.northsky.social and a veritable crap ton of other heavy hitters this Friday at Studio Two Three in Richmond.

I was reminded recently how perfect this song is. The synth lines, the spirit, the vocal phrasing, the rhythm change-ups. It must have been a blast to see this band live, but yeah, what a song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wOX...
