Sometimes certain people in these spaces can just be bad people and they use liberation coded language to gain personal power over other people for petty reasons. There's absolutely no understanding of the bigger picture.

One of the reasons I think this went viral even in queer circles is because everyone has seen this dynamic play out in some form in our spaces. We need a better way to root out toxic people utilizing the language of liberation in narcissistic and sociopathic ways to dominate spaces.

The decision should have been made by the FAI but the players are a legitimate target for the boycott. When social-minded footballers are told "shut up and play", we criticise that attitude. Well the door swings both ways. They should be scrutinised for just shutting up and playing in this situation
