Home ownership is going down, the age at which young people can afford a home is going up. There are more than enough houses, but the rich are buying them up so the rest of us can be renters for the rest of our lives. They get richer, we get poorer.

Gloria Steinem is a complex figure, and I don't know enough to comment intelligently on her legacy.
I do know there were opportunities for her to create greater alliances between races, but she wasn't ready for intersectionality. Maybe nobody was, but someone should have tried.

My life does not suck under capitalism. It did - for a very long time. But now, I have adjusted my sails to meet the wind where it's at, and my life is ok. Daily survival and fear of a financial crash no longer fills my heart with dread.
