with all the bad news for trans rights recently I think it’s important to highlight some good news

good for governor spanberger
Governor Abigail Spanberger quietly ended a rulemaking process initiated in the waning days of former-governor Glenn Youngkin’s administration. The rule would have limited transgender students' ability to play sports and use facilities.

Spanberger quietly kills Youngkin-era transgender rulemaking effort
“There’s no legal authority to move forward with rulemaking and prior administrations may have tried to create lanes and we’re not doing that,” Gov. Abigail Spanberger said.

The "Pro Life" party showing they're only pro-bullshit and enslavement.
ICE is arresting a record number of pregnant women and teenagers, according to government documents obtained by the Guardian.

At the same time, the agency appears to have lost count of how many suffered a miscarriage. 🧵

The US media's response to a film's evidence on Israel's targeting of civilians?

Report on the directors possibly losing the citizenship for being brave enough to bring the evidence to light.

In no way talk about the evidence itself. Can't risk being anti-Israeli by calling out Israeli war crimes.
Israeli official calls for directors of "NAZA" documentary alleging use of AI in Gaza to have nationality revoked
The documentary "NAZA" includes interviews with purported Israeli intelligence officers who claim the systematic use of AI-powered targeting systems in Gaza.

We're only one step away from an officer with a grudge watching your every move from states away.

Or, say, someone in Federal government monitoring political opponents to leak videos to favored networks.

Not fiction. Not hyperbole. This is actually happening, now.
The Texas sheriff's office that used 80,000 Flock cameras to search for a woman who had an abortion used AI to write a police report about the incident.

American history is filled with examples of white men paying little - if any - penalties when being called out on their lies or outright illegal acts.

Ariely fabricated evidence on a paper about dishonesty. And yet he was still given a leadership role at Duke University.

Why? Because he was white.

“If that counts as sexual assault then almost every woman has been sexually assaulted”.

Yes. Bingo.

Almost every woman HAS been sexually assaulted.

Many of us have had it happen more than once.

The problem isn’t the definition, it’s rape culture.

"Whatever are we to do to avoid this catastrophe?"

"Return to progressive taxation."

"Anything, anything at all?"
“.. By the end of the next president’s first term, Social Security will run out of cash reserves to pay full retirement benefits for tens of millions of retirees ..

.. we have run out of time, and the required changes will be larger and more abrupt.”

Saying it louder for those in the back:

Parts of our country already endorse using electric shock gloves on disabled children. In our schools.

If you’re grabbed by someone wearing “shock gloves”…your body may convulse involuntarily.

It could look like you’re resisting arrest when in reality, you’re in medical distress.

The appearance of resistance will embolden ICE to use lethal force.

These gloves will kill people.

Nothing says, "We are the most powerful nation on Earth" better than its main braggart being smuggled out of a foreign country in a catering box.
I am particularly looking forward to laughing when the little nugget drops that the "intelligence" of an impending Iranian attack on Trump in Turkey came from the Israelis.

For America's 250th, I read Frederick Douglass’ speech, “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?” on the House floor—for the first time in history.

His speech endures as a mirror & mandate for us all—to confront our inequities while fighting for an America as good as its promise.
