Obviously this is excellent, detailed, and in many ways pretty terrifying - essential reading for anyone with even a passing concern for literature, thought, learning etc. I would only add that there is an even broader crisis here around attention.

My parents were low income so I often just browsed game shops as a kid. Sometimes mum let me get a game. It'd cost her whole day's wage and a chunk of our rent. Dad once told me to check under the car seat and Pokemon Red was there in a bag. Ownership isn't the only thing we lose with physical media

I've been pretty vocal about my dislike of Game Key Cards and my shift to buying PS5 versions as a result.
But now if PlayStation is moving 100% to digital, Switch 2 might be the place to at least get some games completely on physical media.
