SiN Reloaded Review — Another Shot for The Underdog
SiN games are proof that games can become more interesting the older they get. Unlike wine, they may not have aged particularly well, but they can show us how strange, ambitious and sometimes downright crazy they were for their time. Ritual Entertainment released this bad boy in 1998. We played it five years later when we got our first PC, but we remember it being full of ideas like computers to hack, security cameras to use, elevators to operate, vehicles to drive, enemies to disarm, as well as localized damage, alternate routes and branching objectives.

TOEM 2 Review: A Little World Full of Wonderful Things
TOEM was such a great game. We loved how warm that black-and-white world could feel, with all the lovable characters, memorable locations and tiny details that made us stop and look around. We spent so much time playing it on our Steam Deck, taking turns with our nephews and competing over who could take the best photographs or collect the most stamps.

Growing Vegetables, Fighting Vampires in Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire Review
Voltaire is Dracula's son who, instead of drinking blood, decides to become a vegan. This doesn't exactly go down well with dear old dad, who sends his minions after him. Yup, if this isn't the most inventive way to rebel against your blood-craving daddy-o, then we don't know what is. In all seriousness, Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire is a farming action roguelite that has now made its way to PS5 after originally launching on PC in 2023.

Is it just us, or are you also freaked out by empty space stations? Not only did people work there, but they also had their own routines—they lived there. And now, there is nobody around to tell us what happened. That stark void of life, where everything has been left behind, is why we think empty stations work so well in games.

Minecraft Dungeons II Review — More of What We Loved
The first Minecraft Dungeons gave us a different way to experience the Minecraft universe and, most importantly, proved that taking the basic idea of Diablo could work remarkably well in the recognizable blocky world. We enjoyed our time wandering through Minecraft-inspired environments, fighting illagers and all sorts of other creatures and collecting weapons we didn't need but, weirdly enough, absolutely wanted.

Blades & Battles Review: Swords, Skeletons and Old-School Fun
If you've played those arcade beat 'em ups from the eighties and nineties, like Golden Axe, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs or The Punisher, you'll know exactly what you're getting into with Blades & Battles. QUByte Interactive's newly releaced title takes that same basic formula and drops it into a medieval fantasy setting. Join us after the trailer as we explore an intriguing world filled with plenty of sword-fighting, magic, skeletons and some rather large bosses.

Keeping the Pixels Alive: Marcel Bernardi on Building a Modern 3D Beat ’Em Up
If you're delving into game creation, then you'lle most likely agree that there’s a big difference between making a game that looks old and making one that actually feels like it came from the arcade era. When you add 3D models, modern widescreen displays and faster movement into the mix, keeping that old-school character becomes even trickier. Marcel Bernardi was involved in solving exactly those problems, working on everything from the way characters are shaded and animated to how combat, magic and movement fit together in…

CONTROL Resonant Mega Review — A Love Letter to Remedy’s Beautifully Broken Reality
We've been fans of Remedy Entertainment ever since their first games. Max Payne and Max Payne 2 hold a special place in our hearts and, to this day, we still find time to come back and play the second one. The Alan Wake games, especially the first one, were equally amazing, particularly because we were big fans of Stephen King at the time.

BLACKSHARD Review – Getting Lost in a Senseless World
From the first few steps into Blackshard's Labyrinth, we found ourselves staring at things that seemed impossible to explain. Enormous structures rise from empty spaces, walls lead nowhere, and strange combinations of geometric shapes create places that feel more like someone's impossible dream than somewhere people were ever meant to live. BLACKSHARD is a beautiful game, with constructions and designs that make very little sense to the logical mind, but are presented in such a captivating way.

Graveyard Keeper 2: Managing the Management of the Undead
Graveyard Keeper came at a time when we were absolutely fed up with farming games and their same old, rather worn-out gameplay mechanics. It caught us completely by surprise. We didn't expect to be dealing with corpses, digging graves, removing organs and finding increasingly questionable ways to make money from the dead. Did we find it strange, funny and, at times, needlessly complicated?

BuGarden is one of the coolest desktop companion apps we've come across this year. It's simple, it sits in the corner of our screen and does its thing while we do ours, like writing this review, for example. We'd write a few lines while the flowers we'd planted continued to grow, then glance over as some much-needed coins got collected in the background.

Onimusha is a well-known series, and if you were a PS2 gamer back in the day, you were blessed with not one, but five main games and two spin-offs. Those games were praised for their unique setting and insane amount of action, but what we loved most was that Capcom wasn't afraid to experiment. The developers didn't seem interested in making the same game over and over again.

Sunday Sims Spotlight #17: A little help around the house
Vintage Glamour Stuff is a DLC that comes with a collection of nice-looking furniture and clothes that are all about old-fashioned luxury, with formal clothing, glamorous furniture, a vanity table, a globe bar and other items that belong to a very specific theme. But it shouldn't be dismissed easily as it also comes with something that can change how a household works - a very helpful live-in butler.

Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth is a game that is like a fairytale, and the opening reminded us of children's books that we used to stare at in awe as kids. Everything is wonderfully drawn and subtly animated, which, in combination with the atmospheric soundtrack, really pulls us into the world. We started playing the game with our nephews before going to bed, thinking we might see what it was all about and continue the next day.

If there's one type of genre that we love the most, it's tower defence. There's something insanely satisfying about placing towers in strategic places and watching them mow down wave after wave of enemies. If we had to pick one series out of the genre, though, that would be the Kingdom Rush games. We remember playing the first game about 15 years ago as a Flash game.

Agent 64 Interview: Bringing Back the Old-School FPS
Agent 64: Spies Never Die is like the FPS games we played on the N64. In our review, we saw that it keeps the things that made them fun, and bring them into a modern game. However, getting the balance right between old-school design and modern expectations isn't always easy. We spoke with Replicant D6 about making Agent 64, from getting the shooting right and building missions around replayability to adding multiplayer late in development.

There is no question that BLACKWOOD is heavily inspired by the John Wick movies. From the way Anton checks his weapon to how he moves, takes cover and deals with enemies, the influence is there from the first few minutes. Far from us minding it. There aren't many games that let us play out this kind of action-movie fantasy while also letting us to run a DVD store during the day.

Interview about Sushi On Wheels: Taking a Food Truck Around Izu
For Neil, Sushi On Wheels started with a place rather than a game mechanic. After spending time living in Japan and travelling outside Tokyo, he found himself drawn to the smaller towns and communities that don't get nearly as much attention in games. The Izu Peninsula was one of those places. It became the setting for his first proper commercial game as a solo developer.
