These folks were out again tonight, so I asked what they were doing. Apparently they're with American University, doing some environmental work for the city.

Our block is an untreated control block, but blocks around us have different treatments to try to reduce ambient heat.

The Spanberger thing should really not be that surprising. Away from the Bluesky hyperbole, the Democratic Party (and I'm hardly it's biggest booster!) has on actual votes and policies been overwhelmingly good on trans issues. Not a single anti-trans state has a Democratic state legislature
