They have to make a decision about whether the accused rapist is allowed to remain on campus and attend classes while the investigation is ongoing. And this can be a difficult decision because most cases aren't as horrifically obvious as these drugged and gang-rape cases are. It's she said/he said.

Campus police are notoriously compromised at this, however; it needs to be independent law enforcement. Every college town probably needs a SVU in their PD.
