Likewise. If my being a Jew is a problem for you, then don't expect me to support you even when I support others in your community. You don't get to reject the parts of me you don't like.
I may have gone down a rabbit hole from which I can't escape. We've recently taken 4 large boxes of photos from my mother's place; it's my job to scan, organize, and provide web space for them. When I'm done with those, I have several thousand in my house to scan also. Oy.

Why would Peter Piper have picked *pickled* peppers? Surely they would have had to be picked *before* pickling, no?

I wonder what would happen if, in response to ICE's planned invasion of NYC, the mayor were to instruct the NYPD to carefully and time-consumingly check the citizenship papers of every ICE agent they find. Forgot to bring them? Oh, well, better luck next time.

When looking at the situation in the US, there may be some merit to the idea that staying to be part of the solution can be effective. However, this shifts to "leaving is safer" when one loses faith that the system itself would allow such change. We may be approaching that point.

A thorough and well-developed civics/history curriculum for high school students can seem biased and left-leaning - if you happen to hate the US as a nation and actively work toward its destruction. If you believe in America at its best, however...

You'd think that, with the prevalence of annoying and depersonalizing autodialers meant to confirm various appointments, the online calendar providers would create a common interface so that the computers could talk to each other and leave us alone. I answer the phone when people call, not bots.

We went to the local bookstore today. The publishing industry must be getting lazy; not only are there fewer books in the store nowadays, but they've got a whole section of books that haven't even been written yet. Completely blank!

So let me get this straight:
Blowing up boats having nothing to do with drug smuggling and drug deaths, in the name of fighting drugs is ok, but assassinating the CEO of a company whose decisions resulted in the deaths of many thousands is problematic? Uh, ok...

A lot of talk about James Watson, but so far I've seen none about Rosalind Franklin. "I wonder why not?" he said, disingenuously.

Time for Firefox. It's not just about privacy, it's about control, and Google/Chrome has ceded it to corporate interest and not their user base. Also remember that Edge, Brave, and other minor browsers are based on the Chrome engine, Chromium. But not Firefox.

There are some woodworkers who will spend 30 minutes setting up a cut on their table saw, risking their safety and that of their materials, rather than use a small hand saw or plane - and then produce inferior results. I do not trust these people.

In the past, many people obeyed the law most of the time because it was the right thing to do, whether the "right thing" is obeying the law or the thing the law represents. Some people obeyed from fear of getting caught and punished. Now, though, parts of that latter group no longer fear being 1/2

Folks, I believe that it is possible for good people to disagree over the Gaza situation. If you are one of those who boo and shout down calls to free hostages, however, you are not one of those good people.
