The 9-11 NYC street monuments were the most revolutionary mass engagement with participatory urban design I've ever seen.

People redesigned the cityscape without permission. They repurposed the neoliberal city around their social and emotional needs.

That's something.

Wendell Berry was conservative in the true meaning of the word.

Modern conservatism is conservative in the “nihilist corporate boot licking jackal” sense of the word.

His death will not be mourned by the likes of them.

Good.

Many of the ills we ascribe to neoliberalism have their roots in the postwar “new deal/social democratic” fetishization of GDP growth over actual human flourishing.

Neoliberalism is the crisis, but it isn’t the cause of the crisis.

I will never shut up about this.

The third richest man owns The Washington Post.

The sixth richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

And now the seventh richest could soon take over both Paramount and Warner Bros.

If you think the origins of NYC’s growing inequality lie in the fiscal crisis or gentrification or neoliberalism or finacialization or anything that happened after the 1970s - you are missing the bigger picture.
