After everything I am coming to the conclusion the really important discourse is the popular culture one because having good (not necessarily interesting or unique) popular culture takes is the best proxy for good political takes.

Hernandez, 43, is Mexican-American, millennial, married, and lives in a small city in Colorado.

In 2016, she voted for comedian Roseanne Barr. In 2020, she backed Biden, and in 2024 Jill Stein. 🧵

One of the many independent counsels that dems should create ASAP is one just to enforce emoluments and other final transactions Trump was personally involved

The other corruption should go to other independent counsels. We should have like 10 teams minimum

Having someone who is unable to disagree with you, tell you your tastes are bad, your interests are boring/stupid is how you get deranged
AI does to the regular person what todies do to billionaires, and heirs do to rich old people - tell them what they want until it warps their mind and breaks them
My wife made the astute observation that most people obsessed with their AI seem to be sad or feel like there's a void in their life that needs to be filled (professionallly or socially) and when they find out that chatbots can talk about the users interests like a friend would, that's the hook

The thing about 1984 is not just that authoritarianism and Stalinism are monstrous projects that just create misery and oppression - but also it doesn't work and can't maintain itself in power forever because ot cultivates only incompetence, cruelty, misery and sycophants.

I'm writing something about this but a major flaw of the right-wing movement is the clear and obvious belief that racism, homophobia and misogyny are *correct*, but unpopular. so the most "forbidden" voices are obviously *right*, but voters aren't ready for it yet. This whole thing is an example.
