Politics, campaigns, psychology, sportsball, root beer floats. The Great State of Minnesota. The Lynx were robbed. I'll try and do less stream of consciousness here, but no promises.
Someone do this. It needs to be in the family by the time I pack it in.

“Largest theft of labor in human history.” What a quote.
Eye popping. Court just unsealed Summary Judgment motions in New York Times v OpenAI / Microsoft.
Easy to see why the AI companies had so many redactions (pink). Their own people wrote the lede for NYT, the "largest theft of labor in human history"... "more and more substitutive..." /1

you'd never know it from the NYT article @gelliottmorris.com is commenting on here, but there is a very well-known 60+ year old literature in political science documenting the exact point the op-ed presents as a novel insight, which begins with Converse (1964):

Yeah but he didn’t say the word deplorable so it’s not so bad.
Trump: "We spent more than $2 billion in FEMA funding. You're waiting for some additional funding. I'm gonna get that to you. Now if Michael loses, I'm not sending it."

The latest from YouGov (n=1000 Ohio LVs):

Brown: 48
Husted: 45

Acton: 48
Ramaswamy: 45

In case you worry candidates run too many simplistic ads that don't get into serious policy... 25pct of Ohio *likely voters* think Sherrod Brown is the current incumbent

These numbers reflect the disparities that have always been there in college sports. But those disparities didn't lead to calls for equal spending caps ..... until some of the money started going to athletes, rather than just coaches, admins, and construction companies. You see how that looks, right

Area econblogger has decided that superintelligent AI will kill us all with a doomsday virus.

A lot of biologists say "no, econblogger, you don't actually know anything about viruses."

Area econblogger responds "I urge you not to listen to these biologists."

The most expected of developments. We'd like to entrench ourselves in charge, actually.
His 2nd rec also heavily depends on the details.

He does not seem to be saying "my industry cannot be trusted to regulate itself. Let's slow down and create robust regulatory frameworks."

He's saying "my industry CAN be trusted to regulate itself. We just need regulatory waivers."

It's nice that these youths get to experience some old-school Gophers football.

So that's two of the best offensive young players out for the season 6 quarters in, and the only linebacker that doesn't look like he's running in sand is holding his hamstring. I hope the guys have been playing school to get that 5-7 bowl bid babyyyyyy

They need to ban the Gophers from televised football. Streaming, apps, clips on tik tok all of it. Any visual recreation of Gopher football's existence is illegal.

Well Gophers... it was fun.

Two pretty bad holds missed. Dumb penalties. Kerry Brown just a little late from undercutting the big slant play. Sighhhh. #gophers.
