I can’t wait for DIGGER to open tomorrow!!!!… But only because then my social media feed will hopefully stop showing me terrible “influencers” promoting it. This campaign has targeted me unlike anything else and therefore I’m determined not to see this movie.

When is this f’ing summer weather going to end* & fall going to start in the Bay Area? Sweater weather is my favorite weather!
*I know I’m going to regret thinking this in February when my house is flooded because of El Niño, but dammit, I’m sick of this heat!

It’s a bright sunny day so what better way to spend it than sitting in the dark watching old movies?
Bonus: this double feature includes appearances by the Nicholas Brothers.

This is at least my 30th time and I’m just as excited as the first show back in 1991.

A short book that I read way too quickly because it was so enjoyable. One of my favorites of the Maigret series so far.

Double Feature this weekend: first was Runner (not to be confused with The Runner) at a theater about to close and I’m feeling nostalgic because I was here opening day in 1985… and even before then when it used to be a Drive In.

At least once a week I think back to my 8th grade history class where we saw a WWII video that included a speech by Hitler. We were bewildered why his audience adored this buffoon and our teacher assured us that he was very charismatic if only we understood German. I hate how much I know that’s B.S.

Read my first (and probably last) Trollope novel. I expected more considering its mammoth length, but at least it satiated my longing for a Victorian novel. And after lugging this around for a couple months I can finally stop singing to myself “So ask yourself now…”

Went to a friend’s birthday party in San Francisco this evening and miraculously it was 30 minutes before someone wanted to talk about AI. I would have bet all my money that it would be less than 20.

Every once in a while, Pitchfork can still be worthwhile. Today’s positive look back at The Eagles’ Greatest Hits (8.1 out of 10) has the perfect opener: “First but not necessarily foremost, fuck the Eagles.“

Last week was an accidental Lauren Bacall week with Dark Passage from a TCM recording and How To Marry A Millionaire on the big screen. Not her best, but they each had enjoyable moments.

This thread of amazing book covers goes on forever and… WOW!
I’m packing my pulps to move to California. This is a daunting task. To keep myself moderately entertained I am going to post 4 random covers from each shelf I finish packing until I’m done.

So, about that… turns out everyone else in my group put it off even longer than I did and since I’m the only one who finished it I’ve been assigned to an AI project and I want to dive (without the v). But for now I’ll focus on getting drunk and read for a bit. Happy Friday!
