Truly challenging. Will test your patience and reflexes. Deceptively massive world and dungeons. Devilishly tough puzzles. Remains one of the very best Zelda-like games out there. Quite a somber tale for 1998, full of death and tragedy. Would love a modern remake!

Alundra (1998, PS1)
Rating: 9/10
Truly challenging. Will test your patience and reflexes. Deceptively massive world and dungeons. Devilishly tough puzzles. Remains one of the very best Zelda-like games out there. Quite a somber tale for 1998, full of death and tragedy. Would love a modern remake!

I FINISHED ALUNDRA. Review coming soon. After essentially soft-locking myself in my first playthrough (40+ hrs), I started a new game 😮💨 And around 25hrs later I rolled credits. On this second playthrough, I kept track of how many characters die. My tally was 24 villagers. This game is bleak AF. ⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️

TMI update: I had a colonoscopy today. 😳 Just a routine screening now that I’m 45. The procedure was easy enough, and no signs of any concerns, which is comforting to know! But man the last 2 days prepping were physically demamding and tiring, even by gay standards. Make sure you have nowhere to be!

I’ve sunk 40+ hours into “Alundra” - my first full playthrough since 1998 - and I may be at a point I can’t continue. Stuck on a VERY difficult late-game boss and I’m unable to go back and stock up on items/gear. No backup save file from earlier progress. I might try again tomorrow, but for now… ✌️
