🐇Rabbit numbers are often assessed indirectly through small mammal surveys or as part of broader habitat and prey base evaluations.

Our staff attended the Wenatchee River Salmon Festival in Wenatchee last month. This event takes place every year, and we are glad to be able to bring a little bit of Hanford to the valley. We spoke to 400 students, teachers and chaperons over a two-day event.

Congrats to Kathy Conaway on her retirement from the WA State Department of Ecology! In her 27 years of service with the Nuclear Waste Program Kathy accomplished so much. Last week we celebrated & recognized Kathy’s accomplishments in our program. Cleanup wouldn’t be where it is today without Kathy!

Plutonium production created about 440 billion gallons of wastewater discharged to soil disposal sites and 56 million gallons of mixed radioactive and chemical waste stored in 177 underground tanks.

Fire Prevention Week is observed from Oct. 4 to Oct. 10. During this week, people of all ages learn about fire safety and ways to prevent fires. The 2026 theme is “Charge Into Fire Safety.”
