We're relaying the historic setts on St Mary's Street, alongside improving pedestrian safety, and wider infrastructure upgrades ⚒️

The project will begin on 21 September, and is expected to take around six months to complete.

Councillors have approved the Strategic Business Case to expand Edinburgh's tram network, with the immediate priority being the southern section of the route.

The next step will be to position the plans within the wider regional SEStran study, which is expected next autumn.

Princes Street is set to fully reopen on Saturday (29 August), following a major fire at the former Debenham’s building last month.

Lothian Buses and Edinburgh Trams are working to resume services, with pedestrian access also being restored.

We continue to make good progress on making the building safe, with the outer steel work to secure the front façade now complete.

Subject to the weather, we remain hopeful of reopening Princes Street to buses, trams and pedestrians by the end of the month.

If you live in Ward 15 (Southside/Newington) or Ward 17 (Craigmillar/Portobello) and want to have your say in next month’s by-elections you need to register to vote by midnight tomorrow (Tuesday 18 August) 🗳️

For new postal vote applications the deadline is 5pm on Wednesday (August 19).

The Council Leader has chaired a meeting with key city partners and stakeholders to provide an update on the ongoing response to the Princes Street fire.

Progress continues on site, with the front façade being stabilised and several tonnes of stonework and debris removed.
