This morning, my novel /Dread Isle/ is #83 on Amazon's list of bestselling Black & African American Science Fiction. As often happens, one of its neighbors is an Octavia Butler book. As has never happened—to my knowledge—this time it's a Spanish-language version of her work (See #81)!
Congratulations, @silviapark.bsky.social! I learned just last night about the coming /Luminous/ adaptation! How thrilling!

Well, @scalzi.com, I don't think I've ever laughed harder or longer while reading a novel than I did throughout the first dolphin scene in /Starter Villain/. Hats off, sir.

Clearly, jazz great Mel Brooks missed his calling.

He could've been a comedy legend!
Melvin James Kaminsky: the 100 year old man. Actor, comedian, filmmaker, songwriter, drummer - and now, centenarian. I've rarely laughed quite as hard as I did the first times I watched The Producers and Blazing Saddles.

Happy Birthday Mel Brooks, King of Comedy.

Hey, @deanbakopoulos.bsky.social! Your novel /Summerlong/ saved me from rafts of nonstarters. Can hardly wait to see where it goes!

What a pleasure it was to again hear you talking books, @katekilla.bsky.social! That hour of you and Bill Nigut on WABE-FM made my Saturday.

Consider giving, sharing, or both, won't you?
This man was murdered by an off-duty ICE agent and he has two young daughters who will not have the support of a father ever again. We can't raise even $300k for these girls?

/The Only Plane in the Sky/ by @vermontgmg.bsky.social proved to be the book I needed amid trying times. You might think that an oral history of 9/11 would be the last thing to read during an extended period of mourning. Not so for me. For hours at a time, I could not put the book down.

A waft wafted purely for numerical symmetry: As I key it in, I am following 119 Blue Skyers.

This waft is my 119th.

A spectacular shot, @glendunlap.bsky.social!
Here's a shot I got this year that I like a lot. I'm pretty sure this was on Trona Road on the way to some legit Milky way action in the desert! #Photography

/Bizarro/ might be the thing I miss most about not seeing newspapers anymore.

The little bit of this Piraro web comic that I've read so far goes a long way toward filling that void!

See for yourself?

What? You haven't read /Infomocracy/!?!

Whatever are you waiting for?
real talk though if you follow me you probably know SOMEONE who will say "this book was written for me?!" And that's an awesome feeling to give someone ☺️
If you're looking for a quick present for someone, ebooks are always great, and I've got a great one for the poli-sci, cyberpunk, big data nerd, and/or sci fi political thriller fan in your life.
