Early voting is already underway in some states. From now until Nov 3, I urge you all to...

1) Help get out the vote
2) Protect our electoral machinery from interference
3) Not succumb to complacency, defeatism, or cynicism

We are the only ones who can end this nightmare.

This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

As students, we are facing a wave of attacks designed to silence us, bury us in debt, make college less affordable, and push higher education further out of reach.

If you’re ready to join us, text ‘CAMPUS’ to 787-57 to organize.

His accounts here are constantly, and erroneously, deleted as spam. Also like so many.

Please give if you can. No amount is too small.

The Capybara Café owner called PETA’s allegations “factually inaccurate” and rebutted the accusations, arguing her cafés and nonprofit have done nothing wrong.

If USA Today is indeed unilaterally putting source interviews in some sort of database, in their entirety, allowing them to be cherry-picked by other reporters—and *AI*(!!)—that is journalistically indefensible and no one should ever talk to them again. Is this true? Is it Gannett wide?
Earlier this week, I agreed to interviews with two USA Today journalists. They wrote fantastic articles about the Cornell case that I'm proud to have been a part of.

What I did not know is that their employer considers interviews to proprietary and opens up recordings to be used by any journalist.

I don’t think everyone realizes how bad things are for US science:

For the fiscal year that just ended, the Trump regime withheld $1.4 billion from the National Science Foundation’s research budget, which is about 1/5 of its primary research budget.

The move, affecting about one-fifth of the National Science Foundation’s primary research budget, is the latest sign of how the White House is asserting more control over grants.
