To be fair, I only jumped on David's run (both back in the day and on this current re-read) in the build up to the Professor Hulk era, so it's very possible I could have missed earlier body horror transformations
The Big Guy returns for the first time since the beginning of David's run in 1987, and the first real elements of body horror are introduced into the Hulk's transformation

We lived next to a drive-in for the summer of 1989. My brother and I would tether our sleeping bags to the roof with bungee cords and tune our AM radio to whichever movie we wanted to watch. We would sleep out and watch movies until they closed for the night.

Well I've gotten as far as I can stand with Roy's run on this series (even though this cover is really cool). I'll check back in when David's Hulk gets up to 1993 and Len Kaminski takes over Doctor Strange

Wow. Between Namor, Reed, Sue, and Iron Man this issue is a crossover of the Byrne-verse. I'm sure the only reason Hulk and She-Hulk aren't guest starring is because he left both of those books in a snit

It also sucks that Keowan turned out to be such a turd person
I've really been looking forward to this issue, not just because it features an original #Defenders reunion, but because I think David's Hulk was Marvel's most solid series of the 90s and I'm excited to start reading it, some again but most for the first time

I was excited for this issue because I think Varnae is a fun villain and he looks great on this cover that Guice inked himself, but I don't know who this goofball that was inked by somebody else is, but it doesn't look like Varnae

I know that Roy co-created the original Baron Blood, and I honestly don't know if dressing Vic up as a Nazi was his way of showing how evil Marie Leveau was, or if he was just that tone deaf that he thought it was a way to make his new antihero look badass

Given the similarity of their powers, and that the both were GR Big Bads, I was certain that Deathwatch was going to be revealed to be Centurious
Plus, since his origin was that he had started out as a prince of a pseudo-Aztec civilization, Centurious should have been a person of color
