As someone mentioned a few months ago, a child needs to see and interact with 1–3 cats to know what cats are. An algorithm needs thousands and thousands of images of multiple cats to be able to identify a cat. Those aren’t the same process.
We understand a scene because we can distinguish between the molecules and electromagnetic radiation within it. We can do that because we create molecules that REACT differently to everything in it. No one feeds us “training data“ about all the matter and energy in the universe
