Still mad that they hired Gerwig to do a Narnia but didn’t start her with Horse and His Boy

MLs just coming out and admitting “I have an ideological commitment against historical Western European regimes so I can’t admit other historical regimes did bad stuff too” is wild, but explains a lot about how they treat modern Russia lol

Guys, you don't need to argue with 21 year old Maoists with anime avatars. Even if it's on Bluesky.

Anyone else remember the Anthropic Safety Guy who was arguing we needed to ban people from building GPU homelabs for biosafety reasons and who blocked me after I told him he was just LARPing a press release for his employer?
I only see three explanations for this completely unhinged shit:

1) This is, like all the normie libs keep screaming, pure cosplay-singularity stuff to drive up investment hype

2) The Anthropic cult are so all-in on ASI God shit, they want to lay the groundwork in advance

3) Claude is already ASI

Because I can't finish old projects and have to start new ones, going to try to get a quick Caisson from Zero Company LEGO model done. Always start with some "not officially colored that way" parts for minifigures of Hawks and Meevo.

Weird request; we've had a fairly big breakthrough that we've been mostly keeping a lid on for the past year. We're looking to talk to some science / AI writers about this and I know a lot of y'all are out here on bsky...

Open Theism gang rise up
i think one of my main issues with longtermist- or shrimp qualy- or whathaveyou- thought is that, while the maximalist version is likely a functional equilibrium and a pretty nice world for everyone, the patterns of thinking applied to a muddy limbo world are capable of leading you to actual horrors

Sam Gregory analyzes Apple's new Reference Image feature on the iPhone 18 Pro — "a serious piece of engineering, and a genuine response to the epistemic crisis of AI" — and the unanswered questions it raises.
Will Apple’s ‘Reference Image’ Feature Help Defend Against AI Manipulation?
Apple’s Reference Image addresses some serious challenges raised by the epistemic crisis of AI and presents some unanswered questions, writes Sam Gregory.

I think it’s important to understand both that there’s a bunch of different factions with different origin stories and also that the degree to which the community is (whether literally or metaphorically) a clusterf*** means there has been SUBSTANTIAL cross-pollination
look I'm pretty close to all this stuff so treat me as biased. but fwiw i identify as neither rationalist nor EA and have been monogamous all my life

most of this thread is factually true, but imo substantially misleading—more so about EA and AI safety at large than rationalists per se
I'm back, I missed you all.

Since this is an important subject I know too much about, here's a 🧵 explaining that

AI Safety Is Mostly A Sex Cult.

I don't think these people should make policy. (1/?)
