Do Americans want safe food?

Which Departments are responsible for food safety?

USDA
HHS -> FDA and CDC
Commerce -> NOAA (fisheries)

If one Department is disabled, we don’t have safe food

A Cloudflare co-founder launched the company due to OPT. This crushing fee probably means Zatlyn starts Cloudflare or another company elsewhere. Add in all the int’l PhD grads who stay for postdocs, often on OPT. Lots of US Nobel Prizes come that way.

This is a stupid and destructive policy
The US President's new proposal to tax international students has been approved by the White House for release this week.

It's an unprecedented $100,000 tax on int'l grads who stay to work after graduation on Optional Practical Training (most grads do), a crucial bridge to remaining by any channel.

I marvel at how clearly and succinctly this explains the specific type of soul crushing I see on a daily basis
We are punishing people for having devoted their lives to helping us all.
NSF is consolidating its geoscience research grants into a new program, GEOcore and reducing annual grants to $110 million total in 200-350 awards. Typical was about $300 million in 1,200 awards. Not including institutional grants ($1.3 billion/yr) and those may be gone.

This will literally kill people here's how...

During cold and flu season, pediatric offices are at max capacity. That means an individual provider might see 30-40 patients per day. If you add in extra visits for shots, that just squeezes out slots for sick babies.
Trump: "At one year, you should have 5 separate visits for vaccines rather than getting them all in the same day. I've seen proof of where they have a vaccination thing that looks like the size of a bottle of soda and pour it into a little child's body."
