Protesting is terrorism.

At least, that is the message that the Trump administration has communicated in a series of recent actions, culminating last week in its designation of the U.K.-based Palestine Action as a terrorist group.

My new op-ed 👇

Trump designates protesters terrorists. How far will it go?
The White House thinks Palestine Action in the UK and other US left-wing orgs are a threat to the homeland. At least that is what they say.

Thanks to Mother Jones for including my commentary in this great piece asking: what even is "national security"?

Congressional Dem leadership claims they're exercising message discipline by yelling "affordability" and "groceries" in response to every question but what they're really doing is avoiding moral clarity on the most urgent challenges of our time because that would "divide the caucus."
Thinking about how dissonant Hakeem Jeffries saying "we have 5 working groups on affordability" is with the completely reasonable demand for righteous judgment on those who have wronged us
“Carl Ruby, a Springfield pastor, said he was struggling to make sense of Bel’s untimely death. ‘I know that I’m a pastor and I’m supposed to be forgiving,’ he said. ‘But right now as I sit with a broken family, I’m crying out to God for righteous judgment in those who made this happen.’”

This is an important, targeted strike at the authority the federal government is using to harass non-citizens for speech. Solid First Amendment victory.
VICTORY! Tonight, a federal court ruled in favor of a @thefireorg.bsky.social lawsuit and held the statutes the Trump administration is using for speech-based deportations violate the First Amendment

Thanks to Responsible Statecraft for including my perspective on voters' turn against the national security state officials that featured so prominently in Trump's first term:

In any rational and functional democracy, this would be obvious.

Unfortunately, I think we live in the reality that the establishment Democratic party shares an ideological project with AIPAC that runs deeper than partisan loyalties.
This should be the end of the Democratic Party’s relationship with AIPAC.

Promising to help elect a far-right Republican in November in a critical state, potentially keeping the Senate in Trump’s hands….

Come on. Democrats need to recognize this organization for what it is.

"The road to abolition begins with local obstruction." 👇
There’s a fight that @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social has been deferring. Now that TPS for Haitians is gone, he can’t defer it any longer.

The road to abolishing ICE begins with local obstruction — not just the noncooperation of so-called sanctuary laws. And not taking it risks discrediting socialism.
The End of TPS for Haitians Is A Moment of Truth for Zohran Mamdani
Will 'municipal socialism' stand by as ICE snatches, cages and deports tens of thousands of New Yorkers? Or will it resist?

hmmmm almost like toothless national security resolutions help Congress give the illusion of resistance to obscure its lack of desire to take any high-leverage actions that would meainingfully alter the status quo of US foreign policy

please don't miss this development as the War on Terror keeps morphing: the first sentencing of "antifa terrorism" was handed down today:

Texas anti-ICE protesters convicted of terrorism charges sentenced to at least 50 years in prison
Activists accused of being part of antifa face harsh sentences in case seen as test of Trump’s crackdown on dissent
