The @soc4pal.bsky.social alternate conference is everything that academia should be. It's rigorous yet warm, it's fully of energy. It's cross-generational. The sessions are vibrant and exciting. I'm so touched that folks organized this, and in awe because organizing a conference is a herculean task.

At least 300 people at the @Soc4Pal rally outside the @ASAnews, protesting a conference that claiming to be “disrupting the status quo” in service of an “equitable society” but that refuses to let its own members vote on boycott. The only thing the ASA is serving is genocide.

At least three hundred now. Folks who walked out of the presidential speech and dropped a banner have joined us.
At least 200 people at the @soc4pal.bsky.social rally demanding accountability and democracy from the American Sociological Association.

If you’re around 6th avenue and 53rd today, it’s all sociologists and extremely beautiful and fashionable Dominican women here to attend the parade. It is very clear who is who.

I am so blown away by the incredible organizing that @soc4pal.bsky.social has done, not just to mobilize against the @ASAnews’s decision to pick Israel’s interests over member democracy, but to organize a whole rad alternate conference!! See so many of you Monday!

When We Win: Dispatches from Revolutionary Futures
Revelatory short stories from astute political thinkers that unveil radical visions of futures transformed by collective struggles for liberation This collection envisions a multitude of futures where today's freedom struggles have overcome oppression and capitalism and formed new revolutionary societies. Here, fiction authors, revolutionary theorists, and movement intellectuals take readers into liberated worlds, wresting the future from the cruelty of the state, private property, and profit. Inspired by the liberatory horizons that have emerged in mass movements from recent history, When We Win imagines complex futures of disability justice, sexual and gender freedom, communization, and radical democracy. The stories describe decolonized possibilities, detailing how life after revolution might sound, taste, smell, feel, and look. The future, we insist, is ours to craft. WIth stories by Eman Abdelhadi Ama Josephine Budge Alireza Doostdar Anand Gopal Daniel Sarah Karasik Sophie Lewis Mimi Lok M. E. O'Brien Vicky Osterwiel Jordy Rosenberg

As a reminder: Israel brought us here. Israel pressured the US into this war, that killed thousands for no reason, that raised your gas prices and put the entire global economy in jeopardy for no reason. Now Israel doesn’t want it to end. When will we detach from this toxic entity?
