We went to a show last night; Brett forgot his license, so he got marked on both hands and told he couldn't get drinks. Fine: it was Tuesday, he had a 7 am today, but still, whatever law means venues end up treating people who are CLEARLY over 21 the same as actual minors? Nonsense.

In the MOST first world of woes, I recently got a new v fancy toaster oven. The app-based intro says it has this "rotate remind" feature, where it will, I guess, chirp at you to flip your food. But I cannot find it on my actual device. This is very dumb but for what I paid, I want ALL the things.

cannot believe I keep getting duped into handing over my email AND mobile number so I can be given a 10% off coupon code. Remember when you could get 20% off for just an email? And now I'm unsubscribing left and right from places that were too expensive anyway.

My work bff and my actual bff have both been out of town for the last two weeks, leaving me with no one to share my woes except my husband, who is not interested. And it’s still a million degrees in TN.

I love living by a field, and I'm glad that we don't have mice, which is a risk, but I swear, I'd really love it if I didn't have to remove spiders from ... everywhere.

B has covid, which is impacting me considerably more than it is impacting him. He gets the sniffles & sneezes a bit. I have to sleep in the wrong bed and make my own gin & tonic.

We are seeing the Cure tonight and their bass player has been sick the last few shows. Yesterday, Wilder said he knew “The Forest” bass part so if anyone has an in with Robert, let him know we have a guy for the Plovdiv show.

As a person who didn’t grow up playing video games, I’m at a distinct disadvantage when i do. Real girlfriend energy here while B hammers away at the ghosts. The Bulgarian gin helps.

I don’t know wilders feelings about classism in other contexts, but he has very strong feelings about tiered options in air travel, which aren’t “I’m bummed aren’t in the nicer lie-flat seats” but a more egalitarian “planes should suck for everyone”. Me? I’d totally jump into a sleep pod if offered.

If I'm with my mum during peach season, I wake to a bowl of sliced peaches, which takes me back to being 18, working at Blockbuster til 1 am, waking up past everyone leaving home to wander into the kitchen where sliced peaches awaited. Wren despairs that this is not her life, but tomorrow we feast.

Turns out two weeks OOO wasn't enough to cure my angst or bring me back refreshed. Can't believe I left a guaranteed five week sabbatical for a place where I'm counting days off and all of our tech is broken.
