This beautiful, fragile pheasant chick died a cruel death on a pheasant factory farm. She is one of many who have lost their lives because they were seen as units, products, not as live animals who can suffer.
All this suffering so people can get their kicks from shooting pheasants out of the air.

This is a pheasant chick. She is lying on her back at the bottom of a feeder, legs in the air, wings folded, her beak wedged in a gap she can't pull free from. By the time our undercover investigator frees the chick, she is already dying. Within a short time, she is dead.

On a pheasant farm, a breeding operation exists to produce eggs - and those eggs are laid by females. Most males and birds with deformity or ill-health are killed. They are dropped from trays, usually fully conscious and often with piles of other ‘waste’ like eggshells, into a high-speed shredder.

A walker on Morven Hill near Dinnet, Aberdeenshire, found a dead Red Kite on 30 June. Morven Hill sits on Dinnet Moor, a driven grouse shoot, with predator control that campaigners have long argued crosses the line into illegality.

He’s tipping terrified pheasant chicks into a pile, as if he’s throwing potatoes onto a shop floor. Our undercover footage also shows a worker picking up the corpses of chicks who don’t survive.

Grouse shooting season is underway. So here's some good news: Eyam Moor, a historic grouse moor, is now owned by Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and will be restored for nature.

Britain's rarest bird of prey has bred again! Two female Montagu's Harriers have raised six chicks with one male on English farmland: the second successive year of success at this secret site. After no successful nests anywhere in the UK from 2020 to 2024, this is really something to celebrate.

For most of the 20th century, newspapers covered the grouse season exactly as estates wanted: a glorious occasion framed around aristocratic house parties. Today, the most telling shift is taking place inside the shooting industry’s own media and few remaining allies, with their defensive headlines.

The Red Grouse shooting season opens today. There is nothing remotely ‘glorious’ about August 12th. It’s a date which is synonymous with the killing of birds, the trashing of uplands, and making as much money as possible on moorland estates owned by so-called ‘aristocrats’ or hedge funds.
Red Grouse should be a national treasure. Instead, they're gunned down from the sky in the name of 'sport'. The grouse shooting season opens today. Lines of guns will be waiting for beaters to drive terrified Red Grouse into the air, so their clients can shoot as many as possible before lunch.

The Inglorious Twelfth begins TOMORROW. Hundreds of thousands of Red Grouse will be shot down this year for 'fun'. The shooting industry calls it the Glorious Twelfth, but there is nothing glorious about driving terrified birds into gunfire.

Two Scottish estates, Drimmie and Invermark, have lost their licences to kill common birds until 2029, after birds of prey were illegally killed on their land. At Drimmie, a gamekeeper was convicted of bludgeoning a rare goshawk to death after trapping her in a crow cage trap.

Raptor Persecution UK has reported that a trial against two Scottish gamekeepers has collapsed. The men were being prosecuted over the alleged shooting of red kites in the Cairngorms, and all charges have been dropped.
