Fun fact: The last time the S&P 500 was this close to a record (-0.44%) with fewer of its members above their 200-day moving averages (51.2%)?

March 27, 2000, the day after the index put in its dot com bubble closing peak!

(-0.24% with just 34.1% of members above the 200-day).

It is worth mentioning the Top 10% rule in TX is a racial quota proxy with the claim it helps Hispanic & Black American enrollment but in reality that hasn’t been much help. Instead the biggest impact is helping white enrollment at the expense of Asian Americans. This is why the TX GOP supports it.
Maga candidate Bo French’s campaign turned into a national political controversy after his racist social media posts triggered an argument within the Republican Party that is seeping into the bigger race for one of Texas’s US Senate seats. ft.trib.al/CzmVAfg

Trump could have had lower rates if he hadn’t:
1) started a war
2) added tariffs
3) increased gov debt to fund tax cuts
September 18, 2026 at 2:03 AM
The obvious question is: why is inflation high? The answer is simple; Trump caused it. He first increased deficit borrowing by cutting taxes on the wealthy, then he increased prices directly with tariffs & government overreach, and lastly he started a war which severely impacted world oil supply.
The Fed approved its first interest rate hike in more than three years and indicated another to come, as part of an effort aimed at combating inflation brought on by spiraling oil prices and other factors.
